The New Suez Canal Project is one of the most significant national
projects of modern times, aimed at alleviating the issue of waiting
convoys in the Bitter Lakes area, allowing for the accommodation of
mega-ships and increasing canal revenue. The new canal was inaugurated
on August 6, 2015. Geos undertook the earth retention works along the
eastern platform of the canal, which includes the following scope of
work:
1- A retaining wall measuring 750 meters in length and 21 meters in
height, divided into three tiers.
2-Each tier is 7 meters high, with each tier supporting the one above
it.
3-Construction of an entrance and exit ramp for vehicles to access the
inauguration platform.
4-Landscaping between the tiers for the wall facade and the platform
where the president’s speech was delivered.
5- The retaining wall works included over 10,000 square meters of
Keystone blocks and more than 100,000 square meters of soil
reinforcement mesh.
